The most northern town in Thailand.

There are so many beautiful intricate buildings all over Thailand.

Mae Sai

Mae Sai

Mae Sai in the district of Chiang Rai Province is the most northern town in Thailand. It is a major border crossing between Thailand and Burma.

At first glance, Thailand's most northernmost town, Mae Sai appears to be little more than a large open-air market. But the city serves as a convenient base for exploring the Golden Triangle, its position across from Myanmar also makes it a stepping-off point for those wishing to explore some of the more remote parts of Shan state

Because occasional fighting within Myanmar or disputes between the Thai and Myanmar governments can lead to the border being closed temporarily, it's always a good idea to check the current situation before travelling to Mae Sai.

Its a very busy place with many people crossing the border both ways.
One of the many crazy bike trucks waiting to cross the border.
Young Monks shopping at the gold store.
All around Mae Sai they have these wonderful fruit stalls. Mostly Strawberries but they sell wine made from almost any fruit.

A beautiful Wat (Temple) in Mae sai.
A very nice young Monk who made me some tea and chatted about my trip. Before I left he gave ma a small Buddha to look after me & my bike.
